In 2016, Ping An Insurance, one of the world’s largest insurance groups, became the first corporate in China to partner with SWIFT to implement its global payment innovation (gpi).

The move has reaped multiple benefits for the Forbes Global 2,000 company and China’s largest insurer by market value, while addressing many of the challenges it faced around the large volume of cross-border payments it was experiencing.

Today, thanks to SWIFT gpi, its bank communications are secure and standardised and Ping An enjoys straight-through processing of funds through gpi, which is integrated with its proprietary treasury management system.
